This project integrated physical and digital simulations with sensing technology to study metacognitive problem-solving. The project showed how virtual reality (VR) and eye tracking can be used to assess metacognitive abilities in engineering students and developed analytical models to quantify problem-solving skills. This includes determining if students are attending to the correct elements while solving engineering problems, both in individual and group settings.
